Isaac decided to run away this afternoon after getting into some trouble with his mom. He thought maybe life might be better in another family that didn't have so many rules and chores. I let him take his coat, but that was it (the other stuff in the house is the family's). He took back his Christmas present he gave me (a fancy music box/globe), because he said he bought it with his Awana bucks. I said that was fair, but I wanted a picture to remember him by. We were going to be sad without him, but he had to decide. He left at 1:38pm.
Our son has returned! After being gone 20 minutes, we had a knock on the door. I was happily greeted with a smiling Isaac, ready to come home. I, of course, welcomed him back (didn't kill the fatted calf, but we'll have waffles for dinner) He looked, but couldn't find a better family in the neighborhood anyway. His whole countenance had changed, even smiling in the cold rain. Here he is, back in front of his Saturday homework. This time the work actually got done. If only all our problems could be solved this easily!
